Stairway Joinery utilise pine, white primed, and hemlock soft woods, ensuring that whatever your preference is – we have it covered. Soft wood provides a warm finish, and is extremely popular with many of our customers. You can choose from a range of traditional turned spindles, inspired by the grand staircases of yesteryear, to create a period staircase that suits your home’s age and character.
Pine
Practical and affordable, offering great value for money, pine is a classic choice for traditional interiors. A popular, light coloured knotty softwood, pine is also ideal for painting, staining or varnishing, giving you the flexibility to finish the balustrade however you like. Finishing your balustrade is essential to protect the timber against everyday wear and tear to ensure it looks good for longer. Plus, a paint or stain can add a splash of colour to your staircase.
White Primed
In a hurry? Then this clever time saving range could be the answer. Each balustrade component is supplied pre-primed in an attractive eggshell finish. Simply sand the balustrade and finish with a solvent-based topcoat of your choice, if you would prefer to add some colour. The Traditional Primed range allows you to create a classic look quickly with a choice of attractive turned spindles.
Hemlock
A clear softwood with no knots, hemlock has a beautifully warm natural finish, perfect for creating a welcoming, homely feel. Its natural good looks can be enhanced and protected with a suitable wood polish or it can be finished with a varnish, paint or stain to complement the rest of your interior scheme.
