About Us

Located on the picturesque Dorset coast, Stairway Joinery has built an excellent regional reputation for supplying quality products to local housebuilders and small builders. 2008 marks the Poole-based company’s 25th anniversary and business is continuing to boom.

“Stairway Joinery was founded in 1983 and we’ve not slowed down since the day we started. Our customers tend to be either local housebuilders, building anything from 5 to 100 properties, or they’re small builders, who are carrying out loft conversions to extend people’s living space and improve existing homes.

“When one area slows, the other tends to pick up, which is usually due to fluctuations in the housing market, and we have grown very successfully by focusing on these two sectors. We pride ourselves on doing a quality job and so haven’t gone down the price-driven, mass production route, which could compromise our high standards.”

“We’ve been dealing with Richard Burbidge from day one and they’re a good, reliable company. Stocks are always
available and deliveries are always made, plus they continue to introduce new products that our customers like. We buy right across the board, from traditional turned pine stairparts through to their oak and Fusion ranges.

“We’re based in a reasonably wealthy area — nearby Sandbanks was rated as the number one coastal property hotspot in the country — so our customers are looking for something different. Fusion is particularly popular because of its contemporary styling and we’re also supplying growing quantities of oak and hardwood balustrade to add value to upmarket developments. Simple, modern designs are popular too and we’ve seen increased demand for stop chamfer spindles in recent times.”

“We’ve had an extremely successful 25 years and are looking forward to future growth, with the continuing support of Richard Burbidge.”
